How lingerie could save the planet!?

A solar bra billboard with cup-holders? How Eco-friendly!!

A model displays lingerie maker Triumph International Japan’s ‘Photovoltaic-Powered Bra’ during an unveiling in Tokyo May 14, 2008. The camisole bra, which the company calls ‘earth and human friendly’, features a solar panel which can display messages on the removable small electric board when the cell generates electricity. The bra is also equipped with pads designed to hold beverages so that the usage of cans and plastic bottles can be reduced, the company said.

Being eco-friendly is now fashionable in Japan, and the “Solar Energy Bra” follows the company’s other green-themed undergarments that include a bra that turns into a reusable shopping bag and one that featured metal chopsticks to promote the use of reusable chopsticks.

Good idea though, (the solar thing, maybe not the chopsticks), I predict we will see more of this: clothing/backpacks that have solar panels built in to generate enough energy to charge your personal gadgets and also keep you cool or warm…!?

update: here’s a backpack with solar charger from Voltaic Systems!

Solio Solar Charger

Solio has the most beautiful pink solar charger I have ever seen. Charge your personal gadgets in style!

These cool chargers have three “petals” that fold out and catch rays on their photovoltaic surfaces.

Sorry – the beautiful pink charger is sold out, but they have other colours and styles…

They have a great gallery of people using these Solio solar chargers around the world!
